Aims & Scope

Celebes Journal of Community Services (ISSN 2962-4088) welcomes innovative, impactful, and original scholarly works that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and practice in community services and the social sciences. The journal encourages research that offers significant theoretical, managerial, practical, and societal contributions while addressing contemporary issues relevant to communities and institutions.

Community Partnerships and Impacts

A primary objective of scholarship in service-learning and community engagement is to foster reciprocal, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnerships between educational institutions and the communities they serve. Institutions are expected to mobilize their intellectual, human, and financial resources to support community development while promoting active civic engagement among students, faculty, and other stakeholders.

Faculty members and students are encouraged to collaborate with community leaders, organizations, and citizens to identify community needs and strengths, formulate action plans, implement evidence-based interventions, and evaluate their outcomes through continuous reflection. Research submitted to this section should demonstrate meaningful collaboration with community partners throughout the research process, including project planning, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of findings.

This section welcomes manuscripts that examine community–institution partnerships as both a conceptual framework and a unit of analysis. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Conceptualizations of the civic roles and social responsibilities of educational institutions and the challenges arising from institutional and community interactions.

  • The impact of community engagement initiatives on institutional structures, governance, and public policies.

  • Innovative models of community-engaged curricula, service-learning programs, professional development initiatives, and educational reforms.

  • Research on service-learning and community engagement across disciplines, including implications for research design, methodology, instrumentation, data analysis, and knowledge dissemination.

  • Evaluation of community empowerment programs, participatory action research, collaborative governance, and sustainable community development initiatives.

The Community Partnerships and Impacts section particularly welcomes submissions demonstrating the active and continuous involvement of community collaborators in defining objectives, implementing projects, evaluating outcomes, and ensuring the sustainability of community programs.
